I think that this song is about how (now more than ever) people are starting to be less free and more like an army of clones and robots, seemingly told from the point of view of one of those said robots.

I love how the title is just so smart, like if you have two glass eyes then you are just blind, though with the lyrics it definitely feels like moral blindness (vicious men, with vile ways, so envious in all their days). It seems to describe how focusing on achieving wealth, fame and indulgence can destroy your life, sending you down a one-sided path with a dead end, better just to enjoy your fleeting life while you still can. 10/10 song, P86 never dissapoints.

I noticed that if you listen closely you can hear pieces of The Armor Of God (Ephesians) from the bible (Against the wiles of the devil For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood But against principalities Against powers Against the rulers of darkness of this age Against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places) and (Therefore take up the whole armor of God That you may be able to withstand in the evil day And having done all to stand With which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one) Honestly, it's...

Best line:

“programmed by fellas with compassion and vision”.

Since it’s from the 1958 view, wonder if the fellas he was sarcastically referencing were Eisenhower and Kruschev….simce they were NOT men of compassion and vision but military guys who believed in everything by the numbers.

I believe it reflects the past, the present and future of our bigotry. In the past this would be labelled a rebel song. It's not. It's more than that. It's do we leave our war torn country to bigots or do we unite as Irish people. This cannot happen while you still have peace walls. A segregated education spewing out falsehoods.

Here is the Google translation of the original Swahili:

Our Father, ours Our heaven, ours, amen Our Father, our, who art May your name be glorified

Our Father, ours Our heaven, ours, amen Our Father, our, who art May your name be glorified

give us today our food We need you to forgive us Our mistakes, hey As we forgive them Those who wronged us, don't hurt us In temptation, but Save us, and him, forever and ever

Our Father, ours Our heaven, ours, amen Our Father, our, who art May your name be glorified

The song itself is inspired by the Stephen Sondheim musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Lead singer Andy “Black” Biersack, and lead guitarist Jake Pitts. Biersack said he was inspied by the story of Sweeney Todd via a CD copy of the Broadway cast recording of the 1979 Broadway production with Len Cariou portraying Todd & Angela Lansbury portraying his accomplice Mrs. Lovett. Biersack said his usage of darker themes and imagery in the band’s sound was first started by Sweeney Todd, and later other musicals like Phantom Of The Opera and eventually comic book characters like Batman,...
